Immersive sound experience
While everybody appreciates the sonic benefits of a high-performance home theatre system, it’s also true that some potential customers can’t, or simply won’t contemplate installing in-wall or on-wall speakers in every location, or perhaps need a less complex system for secondary rooms. To address such needs, uandksound has developed a completely new concept – the innovative i3 cinema, a Wireless Home Theater package unlike any other.
Comprising three, 5G Wi-Fi-enabled elements – a 7.1.2-channel capable decoder/transmitter box, five active in-ceiling speakers, and a powered subwoofer – the i3 cinema package includes everything needed to discreetly deliver reliable, room-filling multi-channel surround sound, or stereo audio, into virtually any room, with the absolute minimum of installation disruption.
For instance, the i cinema 200 wireless ceiling speakers (equipped with 75W in-built amplifiers and 2-way, co-axial drivers) fit into a standard 96mm-98mm cut-out, and come with individual mains power adapters. DIP switches located on their rear panels allow them to be assigned as either Front Left, Front Right, Centre, or Rear Left/Rear Right channels before installation, depending on their location.
Signals to the speakers are sent via Wi-Fi from the remote-controlled decoder/transmitter box, the control hub of the system. Capable of creating a virtualized 7.1.2-channel soundfield, this attractively styled device features two HDMI inputs for video sources, as well as a digital optical input, partnered by a single HDMI output for a flatscreen TV.
For music playback, the box features an in-built Bluetooth receiver, to allow direct audio streaming from smartphones, as well as a 3.5mm aux input. While the i3 cinema is primarily designed to work as a standalone system, the provision of RS-232 control also allows it to be integrated into a wider control eco-system.
The final part of this fuss-free home theatre solution is the immensely capable i sub 500 wireless subwoofer. Powered by a 600W (RMS) in-built amplifier, it incorporates a wireless receiver that amplifies low frequency audio signals sent to it from the decoder/transmitter box. Topped with a practical, toughened glass plate capable of carrying a 100kg load, the subwoofer features an upfiring driver, along with an ingenious acoustical labyrinth (i.e. transmission line-style) design. The combination helps deliver an unexpectedly well-extended, low-frequency response, from what is a relatively compact enclosure.
